    What OVRST is

    OVRST is an output-level discipline. Where COUNSEL governs the individual decision to use AI, G3M governs firm-wide policy, and ADAPT governs rollout, OVRST governs what passes through the door of the firm. Every deliverable touched by AI — a memo, a brief, a client email, a discovery response — runs through these five checks before it leaves your hands.

    Confirm every legal reference exists, is on point, is good law, and supports the proposition cited. AI-fabricated authority is a sanctionable risk.

    Document the human signatures, the scope of AI assistance, and any client-facing notice required. Scope discipline is part of competence.

    Timestamp and Tool record

    Record the timestamp, the model and version used, the prompts of record, and the workflow path. The audit trail is the deliverable's spine.
